Funding
The project “MultiCam video analysis for the automatic recording of traffic flows” is funded by the State of Lower Saxony from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under “Europa für Niedersachsen” and co-financed by the European Union.
Background
We already analyse standard junctions with high precision. Extensive facilities such as large roundabouts or transport hubs, however, remain a challenge for the industry because individual sensors have a limited field of view. Capturing them economically and accurately takes more than processing isolated camera feeds.
Objectives
We are developing a solution for the logical coupling of multiple camera systems: an analysis pipeline that tracks road users seamlessly and in compliance with data protection across different fields of view. In addition, planning algorithms use 3D environment models to automatically determine the optimal number and position of sensors for continuous coverage.
Expected results
A scalable solution that fully automates the holistic analysis of traffic relations at major junctions. Our clients no longer need costly manual surveys, and high-precision trajectory data become available across entire urban areas – the data foundation for efficiently dimensioning and planning future transport infrastructure.
